Choosing an area
Each city-centre district has its own character. The Northern Quarter — around Stevenson Square, Thomas Street, and Tib Street — is the bohemian heart of the city, full of independent bars and the relaxed, characterful setting that suits a hen do. Deansgate and neighbouring Spinningfields are the dressed-up end of town, with cocktail bars and rooftop terraces.
Ancoats, the old industrial quarter, has reinvented itself as the city's foodie district and works well for a meal-led celebration. Castlefield, with its canal basins and Roman heritage, is quieter and more scenic. For a lower-key, neighbourhood feel, Chorlton and Didsbury in the south draw groups who prefer local bars to the centre's bustle.
The venue that suits a butler
A self-catered serviced apartment or Airbnb in the centre is the most popular base — it gives your group a private space for the drinks reception, games, and photos before you head out. Boutique hotels and private function rooms work equally well. Because the butler comes to you, the venue choice is entirely yours; all we need is a little room to host.
Getting the group there
This is one of the easiest UK cities to gather a group in. Piccadilly and Victoria stations put it within direct reach of most of the country, the Metrolink tram network links the centre out to Salford Quays, Altrincham, and Bury, and Manchester Airport brings in anyone travelling from further afield. If your party is scattered across different cities, a central base keeps the logistics simple.
Looking beyond the centre
There is plenty of character outside the core. Altrincham, home to the much-loved Altrincham Market food hall, is a favourite for relaxed daytime celebrations. Salford Quays and MediaCity offer a modern waterside setting near the Lowry. Market towns such as Bury and Stockport — the latter's redeveloped Underbanks and Old Town now well worth a visit — suit groups who would rather celebrate closer to home.
How bookings usually come together
Across our own Manchester and Greater Manchester enquiries, most groups are planning hen parties, birthdays, or private celebrations in apartments, houses, hotels, and function rooms. A typical booking starts in a private space near the beginning of the celebration: the butler welcomes guests with prosecco, runs games such as Mr & Mrs or Prosecco Pong, helps with photos, and keeps drinks flowing while everyone gets ready — before the group heads out to the city's bars and restaurants.
Two hours is the most common choice, with enough time for drinks, introductions, games, and photos without taking over the evening. Smaller groups usually book one butler, with a second recommended once the party passes around 10–12 guests, and many extend the fun with a cocktail making class or life drawing.
